March, 1868. It has been three years since the war ended. Three years since the Confederate siege on Washington D.C. ended with the execution of President Lincoln. Three years since the country was reunited under one flag and one name: The New Republic of America.

Looking back, it seems that things haven't changed that much. The country is still in turmoil, what with the New Catholic Church declaring war on the Indians and what not. But you can't blame them, those Catholics. They're just trying to stop the Indians from taking over the whole damn country. See, a bunch of tribes out west banded together a while back and started calling themselves the Indian Confederacy and started gathering an army, saying they were going to retake the land that was stolen from their ancestors.

Yes sir, things are every bit as Hellish now as they were during the war. Now it looks like Congress will have to act before the Indians and Catholics start a new war. They're sending troops next week to spearhead the counterattack on the Indians. It seems that the Indians have taken prisoners in the town of Gready Falls. It the situation is as bad as word says it is, then it promises to be a suicide mission. I wonder who they'll pick to lead that mission. Whoever they choose, I pray for their soul.
